In 1942, Gene Elter opened a little shop on Madison Avenue in New York City. It was a tiny little shop, a few steps down from a busy and developing avenue. It carried the finest quality and most unusual picture frames available in the city. The little shop had many customers from all over—but mostly from the neighborhood. One of his local customers was drawn in by the charm and unique character of the shop to look for picture frames to frame photos of his first born. A friendship was born and in 1984 when Mr. Elter wanted to retire, he sold the shop to the proud father.

Framed On Madison evolved from that friendship, and now carries the finest photo frames available anywhere in the market. We carry a large selection of sterling silver and silver plated frames from around the world—Italy, Spain, England. We also carry unique and hand crafted jeweled, pewter and gold plated frames from European and American designers. Over the years, we have evolved into the best source for mint condition antique and collectible photo frames from as early as 1860. Our skilled design staff can help you select a gift, a single “perfect” frame to complement your family photo, or assist you in putting together an entire roomful of treasured memories. If you seek superior design and quality—you will find it here.
