Description:
This remarkable antique frame was made in France circa 1880’s. It is solid
bronze that has been gilded (22k). The intricate frame border is etched in a
braided pattern, with a tiny delicate beaded inner border. The body of this frame
is gold leafed over ceramic in classic French patterns of rose and torch, paisley
swirls, and floral garland vines. The top of the frame is a unique combination of
laurel branches and ribbons, with a sheaf and torch at the crown. The ease back
is gilded bronze as well.
