Description:
This lovely picture frame was made in France circa 1890’s of gilded (18kt) bronze. The outer border is finely ribbed with a rose branch accent all the way around. The magnificent mat is embroidered by hand on beige damask. The mat is a flourish of embroidered roses in shades of cream, peach, pink and red with soft green leaves. Bronze metallic thread was used to stitch the trellis that connects the flowers, as well as the wavy inner border accent. A round scrolling wreath accents the top.
