Description:
This unusual frame was made in France circa 1880’s. It is made of gilded (18kt) bronze, and situated horizontally. The outer border is beveled, and etched with oak leaves all around the inch wide frame. The crest at the top shows a classic French bow flanked by an olive branch on one side which symbolizes peace, and an oak branch symbolizing strength on the other.  The easel back is gilded bronze as well.
