The background is a rich honey brown color, and the inlaid marquetry is a striking combination of black and brown with a ribbon motif and a narrow black border. The wood is lacquered to give a glossy finish. The easel back is made of buckram, a heavily sized fabric that is both sturdy and beautiful. The edges are lacquered black, and the profile of this frame is thinner—1/2 inch.
